What we do
Six capabilities, each with senior people behind it. Most engagements combine two or three — an application needs somewhere to run, something to report on, and someone to look after it.
VOL Group provides bespoke web application development, iOS and Android mobile app development, Azure and AWS cloud architecture and DevOps, Salesforce and Zoho CRM implementation and integration, data warehousing and Power BI reporting, and SLA-backed application support and maintenance.
We work with UK and European organisations from our office in Kensington, London. Engagements typically begin with a short paid discovery producing a written scope, architecture outline and fixed estimate.
Web Application Development
Not brochure websites. Software that runs a process: customer portals, quoting and booking engines, internal operations tools, and the integrations that hold them together.
ExploreMobile App Development
Apps that ship and keep shipping — with the backend, the admin portal, the analytics and the store release process treated as part of the job, not an afterthought.
ExploreCloud & DevOps
Infrastructure you can reason about, deployments that are boring, and a monthly cloud bill that reflects what you actually use.
ExploreCRM & Business Systems
CRM only pays for itself when it is connected to everything else. We do the implementation and, more importantly, the integration.
ExploreData, Analytics & BI
One version of the numbers, refreshed automatically, that nobody has to rebuild in Excel on the last Friday of the month.
ExploreSupport & Maintenance
Software rots if nobody tends it. Dependencies go end-of-life, certificates expire, platforms force upgrades. This is the unglamorous work that keeps things running.
ExploreHow we engage
Can you take on a project end to end?
Yes — discovery, design, build, testing, release and ongoing support, with a single point of accountability. That is the most common way we work.
Can you just supplement our in-house team?
Yes. Senior engineers embedded into your sprints and your tooling, working to your standards and your definition of done. Useful for capacity, for a specific skill gap, or for a fixed programme where you do not want permanent headcount.
Do you work fixed-price or time and materials?
Both. Discovery and clearly bounded pieces of work are fixed-price. Longer builds where requirements will legitimately evolve work better as sprint-based time and materials with a capped budget and a monthly review. We will tell you which we think fits and why.
What is the smallest project you take on?
We are a poor fit for very small one-off tasks. Below roughly £8,000 you are usually better served by a freelancer, and we will say so rather than take the work.
Not sure which of these you need?
Describe the problem rather than the solution. Half our discovery calls end with a smaller, cheaper recommendation than the client expected.
